Wednesdays Visual Writing Prompt

Use this prompt to think outside the box, to go somewhere with your writing that you had never dare go before. See what kind of magic you can work with that brilliant mind of yours. You are a story-teller so this should be a breeze.

Maybe you could use this prompt to add a scene to the current book you are writing. Maybe you could start a short story that you can give away for free to subscribers of your blog. A picture like this can spark ideas you may never have considered.

The Rules

There aren’t really many rules, just enough to get your blog some attention and get new people interested in your writing or the current book you have to offer.

  • Write in any genre you like – poetry too
  • Tag this post in your post (share this post to your WordPress blog as a new post) so I can find you (it will ping back to this post), then I can check out your work, and promote you on my social sites.
  • If you want, when you’re done, Check which famous writer you write like with a statistical analysis tool, which analyzes your word choice and writing style and compares them with those of the famous writers. Just paste your completed work at  I Write Like – You will be given a badge that says which famous author you write like and you can paste the html into the end of your Wednesday Visual Writers Prompt, if you like, to show us all your badge! How to Strengthen Your Writing With This Proven Ability

Some of you may think today’s blog post doesn’t really fit with the business of writing, but I couldn’t disagree with you more. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of taking this approach to improve my writing and just happened to by accident. It has worked well enough that I believe it’s a method worthy of sharing, and I’m actually super excited about it.

You Are What You Think

Do you suppose it’s possible that you’ve programmed yourself to be the way you are today. That you may be not as healthy as you’d like, not as happy as you’d like, or you’re just not living the life of your dreams.

We all know that we are supposed to be optimistic and positive because it is better for our state of mind, but I don’t think we always realize just how much that inner voice effects our quality of life. We tear ourselves to shreds with self judgement, we are a constant judge and jury to the world around us as well. It is easy to get taken over by negative thoughts, it’s as if positive thinking requires diligence. So we suffer because we have accepted our thoughts as our normal way of life.

Today is not a good day to suffer. There is no time like the present to begin to change the way you think and to change your life.

The brain can physically and chemically change as you do this. It’s scientifically proven that you can rewire your brain. This can extend to any health and fitness related issues, and your overall happiness.


Lucky Charmed

I did an experiment and tried thinking differently for two weeks. I was just feeling stuck in the same old rut and I knew my life was due for a change. So I figured it couldn’t hurt to try and I know I naturally feel better when I’m more aligned to the positive.

And something happened, I am noticeably happier, I’ve written a ton, I have lost ten pounds. I built up my business to a level I only dreamed of as a child and founded my publishing company. I signed the author I wished I could sign. I got a new computer and a top of the line graphics program that I needed for free from my computer repair guy. It’s a $2500 program and he gave me the license and everything. This was perfect timing because my graphics program just took a nose dive and it won’t even reinstall.

I just can’t believe how lucky I am recently and I swear it’s from changing the way that I think.

And there’s more! I was upset that an old jacket of mine didn’t fit anymore and I need a leather jacket to go on a motorcycle ride this weekend (also something I’d been wishing for). And abracadabra! I look in my closet, and hanging there is this beautiful leather jacket that I vaguely remember arriving in a free bag of clothes months back. So I pull it out and it’s absolutely beautiful. I try it on and it fits like it’s tailor made, very flattering. I’m in shock, I can’t believe it.

In the space of two weeks my life has totally taken a turn for the better and I truly believe it has to do with what I’m broadcasting out into the universe. It’s like magic.

I believe our thoughts really do become things. I believe that by changing your mind and beginning to think more positively, and by showing gratitude, the world around you improves and miracles begin to happen.

Use This Ability to Improve Your Writing

So what I propose is this. Use this ability to improve your writing, not only it’s quality, but for quantity. I am getting bombarded with new ideas every day and it is so incredibly invigorating. I can hardly keep up with myself. I’ve been hand writing and going through tons of paper.

I think what changed is this: Every day I write a note to myself that says “I am a writer”. And I am more than ever as of late. I learned this trick recently from Jeff Goins who I’m sure you’ve heard of. But if you haven’t you should definitely check him out. He is inspiring and his advice and books are very helpful.

So you do the same, just try it, it can’t hurt. Write down at the top of a blank page every day “I am a writer”, and see if it doesn’t move you to write more and even write better. Just be sure to spend at least 30 minutes every day writing about whatever you want while you are thinking your positive thoughts.

I will do a poll in two weeks, for those of you that are willing to try this challenge, and see how  you believe it has affected your writing. This will be fascinating.


The Method

So here’s what you do. Start journaling every day. When you first wake up in the morning, before you do anything else, write down three things you are grateful for. It’s important to be honest, don’t be grateful for the things you are supposed to be grateful for, be thankful for the things you really feel grateful for, like chocolate milk for breakfast, the crazy dream you had, the fact that your not so tired today, whatever you can think of.

Throughout the day, pay attention to the thoughts your are thinking and the things you are saying, how you are reacting to the world around you. The thing you want to accomplish is to take all of the thoughts that are no good and replace them with thoughts that make you feel good. So if I was angry that some jerk cut me off on the freeway, instead of thinking all those hateful thoughts, I sent out a prayer that they wouldn’t get hurt or get busted for speeding. That made me feel good. Screaming and cussing at him, or grumbling about it wouldn’t change the situation and would put me in a bad mood. So you see, I’ve already changed my future. Just by doing these two things I am putting myself in the right mindset for miracles to occur.

Choose not to watch the news or your regular programming and instead do some reading , writing, or watch something educational or enlightening. The news is just about the most depressing show on television and can actually make you think negatively, which can have a negative effect on everything around and inside you. Some of the shows you watch, they are just mind numbing programming to keep the sheep pacified, they aren’t promoting your personal growth or improving your health and well being.

If you want to change the way you think, then you will have to change some of the things you do as well because they may promote negative energy. You don’t want that screwing up your good vibes.


Make Your Dreams Come True

By thinking new thoughts you are actually forcing your brain to produce chemicals in a different way and you are actively rewiring your brain. Your brain tells your physical body how to behave, when you rewire your brain, you rewire your body. This is how your thoughts affect your overall health. Maybe that’s why I finally lost ten pounds, I wasn’t pissed off about my weight for awhile, I took a break from that negative pattern of thinking. Every time I was thinking how fat I am, I did my best to remember how I felt when I was in shape so that I could feel that happy feeling in the now. I think it worked. What am I saying, it did work! I lost ten pounds!

The energy you put out into the world comes back to you because everything in the universe is vibrating at a certain pitch. This pitch is like music that has a natural need to harmonize with what is around it. So negative thinking produces negative results in your body and in your world. Just as positive thinking will attract something that resonates with it both physically, and in the world around you.

If you think I’m crazy that’s fine. But when was the last time you walked into a room and felt someone staring at you, or got an awful vibe from someone, or maybe felt good just being in someones presence. These feelings and experiences are due to the energy being put off by those individuals, and your energy responds in a like manner. So it’s true that we are vibrational beings who resonate with the world around us.

Here are some great shows you can get for free over the next two weeks that will help keep you in the right mindset and will hopefully inspire you if you can keep an open mind. Why not right? Really, what have you got to lose, and you’ve got everything to gain: Personal-Development

Remember to change your way of thinking when you catch yourself being negative. Talk nicely to yourself. Think happy thoughts, like how it feels good to love, or how much it makes you want to laugh when someone else is laughing. I know it all sounds like Peter Pan and fricken fairy dust, but it works. Thinking happy thoughts will produce feelings which will trigger those chemicals in your brain. You should notice a difference in five days, and notice some magic happening by two weeks.
